Volunteering at West Wight Sports and Community Centre on the Isle of Wight is a chance to be part of something truly special. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us support the local community, deliver activities and events, and keep the Centre thriving.

Whether you have a few hours to give or want to take on a more regular role, there are lots of ways to get involved. From supporting events to helping behind the scenes, every contribution helps make a real difference to the West Wight community.

Events and Activities

• Marshalling at events such as the Festival of Running and community activity days
• Supporting fundraising events and campaigns
• Helping set up, run and pack down events

Community Support

• Supporting initiatives like Our Place and community drop‑ins
• Helping with Eco Refill sessions and sustainability projects
• Assisting with social and well‑being activities

Centre Support

• Welcoming visitors and providing information
• Supporting café or community space activities
• Helping with administration or reception‑based tasks

Skills and Digital Support

• Assisting with online content, promotion or social media
• Supporting website updates or communications
• Offering specialist skills (e.g. photography, marketing, IT)

Leadership and Governance

• Becoming a Trustee and helping shape the future of the Centre
• Supporting strategy, fundraising and community development

West Wight has a proud history of community action, and volunteers have always been at its heart.

During the COVID Pandemic, we became the West Wight Coronavirus Support Hub, where local volunteers came together to support hundreds of residents—delivering food, providing essential supplies and ensuring no one was left behind.

This remarkable effort showed the true strength and kindness of the West Wight community.
That same spirit continues today in everything we do.
